We realize that for some people, especially those flying to the field school, it can be difficult to acquire all of the items on the gear list for our programs. As a result we offer rentals of a few pieces of gear, listed below. We don’t have a lot of these items, and they are first come, first served. If it is not on this page, we don’t currently rent it.
60 Liter Blue Canoe Barrel – $25/week
These are the large blue barrels we use to keep gear dry on canoe trips.
Small Cooler – $15/week
These are small, plastic coolers that are suitable for use on trips. They are not high-end.
Large Cooler – $20/week
These are standard, large, plastic coolers, suitable for use in camp but too big to bring on trips.
Fancy Small Cooler – $25/week
These are high quality, rotomolded coolers and will keep ice for a week. Size is roughly 20 quarts, a good size for a weeklong trip.
For the coolers and barrels there is a $5 cleaning fee. Get $5 back if you return it clean. The fee is charged up front, like a security deposit
Military-Style Snowshoes: $10/day
These are the US military-surplus snowshoes with magnesium frames and cable lacing. Simple bindings are included in the price.
Jack Mountain Cook Pail System: $30/week
On many courses people bring cookware that is not suited to hanging over a campfire. We usually have an extra set of the 2 quart Jack Mountain pails, although we highly recommend you get your own and use them a few times before your course.
